It's lights out for fluorescent bulbs in Minnesota
Minnesota has become the ninth state to pass a phase-out of fluorescent lamps and the timeline is aggressive. Screw- or bayonet-based compact fluorescent lamps will be banned from sale starting on January 1, 2025. And pin-based linear lamps (tubes) will be banned from sale beginning January 1, 2026.
The main goal is to protect Minnesota residents by reducing mercury pollution. Businesses will benefit financially in the long term as well. Making the switch to LED lighting will significantly lower electricity and maintenance costs for commercial building operators across the state.
